Poet Adrian Mitchell Dies

“Love is like a cigarette. The bigger the drag the more you get.”
–Adrian Mitchell
Humor infused much of Adrian Mitchell’s poetry, but he is best know for his pacifism and social commentary. He wrote for children and adults, and his poem “Human Beings” was voted by the The Poetry Society as the poem people most wanted to launch into space. He had a great love for animals and the earth, and spoke out on behalf of preserving the planet through poems like “Song in Space.“ He died yesterday at the age of 76 from complications following pneumonia.

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of him….those poems are great though. I’ll have to learn more about him.
