Guest Post at Brava!

I’m guest blogging at Beff Hoffman’s blog “Brava!” today on the topic of Critique Partners.  Beth is a New York Times bestselling author, and her latest book, SAVING CEECEE HONEYCUTT, is one of the most charming works of Southern women’s fiction I’ve read.

Thank you, Beth!

I didn’t see a place to leave a comment on her blog, but I’ll leave it here.

Having a dependable, helpful critique partner is key, I’m learning. It’s invaluable being able to hash out plotlines, character flaws, etc. with someone you trust who is willing to talk about it for hours. You’re very lucky to have her. I have a great critique group, but I’d love to have that go-to person. Count your blessings. 🙂

A fantastic essay and tribute to the power we have to help each other in writing and in life. I love that you have a strong writing partner, and it shows.
I, too, work with a friend I knew before we were both writers. It’s one of those fun twists of fate that we giggle about every now and then. She was a cheerleader at college (where we both went) and now is an incredible cheerleader to me and my writing. Though we don’t have a structured time frame for swapping work, we work it in when it’s needed. I’m so grateful.
Thanks for lending a peek into the magic behind your process!

Jennifer: That’s wonderful that you have your very own cheerleader. We all need those. And also, someone to kick us in the pants every now and then. 🙂
