Hi Erika: Just love your post at Writer Unboxed. “A career has hits and misses,” as you say. We don’t often think if it that way. I have one book that is doing well, one book not so well, and a third novel that is still climbing into recognition. And a fourth novel in its “gathering” stage. To keep going in the writing world takes a lot of stamina. Hearing how authors struggle through is so encouraging.

Paula, I’m so glad the post hit home for you. I once heard Chris Bohjalian say a major league pitcher doesn’t strike everyone out. Chris has written 19 novels; some hit it out of the park, others didn’t connect with readers. You learn from it, and you keep pitching.

    Best wishes!
